As I’ve been thinking about how quick time passes us by and how easy it is to forget to stop and look at where you are right now, I came up with an idea. I should sum every month up with my favorite 3 photos from that month. It would be a nice way to stop for a minute to appreciate what has been created. And I’m imagining that it would be fun for you to follow along as well. So here we go, first month : The month of May my friend.
This first photo above is from the beginning of May, from my mini sessions. I absolutely LOVE it! And I love them. It is crazy how fast the scenery changes during spring time here in California. It goes from flowers in full bloom and green grass, to all of a sudden this yellow dry but tall grass, and then in just a couple of weeks everything is dry and flat again. This photo was taken somewhere in the middle. It was such a lovely and still evening. I couldn’t have enjoyed this session more than I did, and as much as I love the photo itself I also love the memories we created together that evening.
This second image was shot at the beach, as you can tell. This was a maternity and family session combined, and this whole night I spent gasping behind the camera. The lighting was hitting my lens in that way that literally takes my breath away for a second or two every time. The mom and I had been talking a lot beforehand about the styling and everything just played out so well. The whole family was such a pleasure to be around, and that combined with the lighting and scenery just created the perfect setup for true magic to be made.
The third image is just like the first one from my mommy and me mini sessions that I did as a Mother’s day special at the beginning of May. And what is there not to love about this image? Look at this perfect little boy, and that loving, proud gaze from his mama. This is motherhood to me, and that is exactly what I love to capture. And if I get to do it with this perfect sunset lighting, there’s nothing else I could ever ask for!
There we have it my friend, my top 3 favorite images from the month of May. It’s been a good month! Something the photos all have in common is motherhood and that dreamy sunset lighting.
