Maternity Session – Frequently Asked Questions

When it comes to my Maternity Sessions, there are some questions that I get asked frequently. So I thought putting a few of them together in a blog post might be helpful to some of you. Of course I answered them for you as well, posting just the questions would be silly. I hope this could answer some of your questions when you’re about to book a session with me. And of course, keep asking me all your questions! I love to answer them.

Can I bring my partner?

I often get asked if it is OK to bring the partner to the session or if it has to be only the mama to be. It is absolutely ok to bring your partner, I love to have the partner joining the session. You are not alone to become a parent, and a Maternity session is a great way to celebrate your pregnancy together. I actually want to encourage you to bring your partner to the session, as I’m sure you are going to want to be able to look back at this time as a couple, in the future (and your baby will probably appreciate it too, at some point).

What time will the session take place?

The time of the session will depend on what time of the year it is, and what location we are scheduling it for. I always want to shoot during the golden hour (the hour right before the sun sets, or the hour after the sun rises). In the fall/winter that usually means that we will meet up around 3 or 4pm, and in the spring/summer we usually meet up around 5 or 6pm.

What should I wear?

This is of course a common question, and during pregnancy especially it is harder to know what to wear. I have a wardrobe of rental dresses that you are free to use during our session, and if you want to wear something of your own that is also OK. I am consistently building up my rental wardrobe and I love it when you choose to wear something from it, but I am equally thrilled to help you choose and outfit own your own. So don’t hesitate to show me your own options if you want some help choosing.

What kind of shoes should I wear?

If you choose to wear one of my dresses for your Session, most of them are long enough to cover your feet. That means that in most cases, I will urge you to wear anything that will keep you comfortable standing and walking in for a while.

What should my partner wear?

I recommend looking for an outfit that feels equally, or close to as dressy as the dress you choose to wear. The most important thing in my opinion is the shoes. If you wear one of the dresses for my rental wardrobe, a pair of sneakers usually doesn’t look good next to it. So a good starting point for the outfit could be to look at the shoes, and build from there.
